The installation BIRCHES & LIGHT was conceived by ATARA design for the studio opening in Vienna. Heike Stuckstedde created this organic installation to provide an overview of her works and to illustrate the design spectrum and the different materials of her light art.
Its delicacy through the fine fibre optics, its softness through the special materials and its hint of nothingness through the invisible substructures lend the BIRCHES & LIGHT installation something mystical, bringing nature into the interior. This creates a subtle atmosphere.
The various light objects are presented as installations and thematically grouped together in the room using birch trunks. The thin, natural trunks support the light objects by being tied together in groups of three and in some cases fitted with shelves. The objects also incorporate the trunks beneath them directly on the wall, creating an interplay of 2 and 3 dimensions. A mirror not only opens up individual parts of the room, but also creates surprising reflections.
Four of the eleven LIGHT\TRACE No. 10 objects, which were once taken over by nature at the Ingolstadt Light Festival, kicked off the game of bringing nature into the interior. The natural organics are an ideal partner for the strict geometry of the other light objects: LIGHT\TRACE No. 7, LIGHT\SPOT No. 1 and LIGHT\TRACE No. 8. The hand-scooped straw silk of the mulberry tree of LIGHT\TRACE No. 1 and the gossamer fabric of LIGHT\TRACE No. 9 also seem to spring from nature.
Visitors to the studio immersed themselves in the mystical atmosphere and were captivated by the magic of light.
Both indoor and outdoor spaces can be magically designed with an atmosphere of light. The subtlety of light thus comes to the fore and often becomes poetry. Accents are created through the right choice of materials, shape and size, both indoors and outdoors, and often blend in well with the greenery of nature thanks to their organic form.
The individually designed light objects from ATARA design are particularly suitable for pleasing the eye of the beholder with light art.
